Elder Abuse in the Community?
Elder Abuse continues to grow in Michigan. 80,000 Michigan elders fall victim to some form of abuse each year. In 2010, Adult Protective Services received 19,000 calls reporting abuse. Unfortunately 70% of abusers are from trusted ones and Michigan’s high rate of unemployment is fueling financial exploitation of the elderly.

If you, or a loved one believe you have fallen victim to elder abuse please contact:

Michigan Adult Protective Services Centralized Intake

and your local police department.

Problems in Nursing Homes?
If you are concerned about the treatment of a loved one in a long-term care setting please contact us at: 1-800-858-1637.

Although 70% of people currently living in a skilled nursing facility (nursing home) are funded by the Medicaid program, others pay the estimated $65,000-$72,000 years out of pocket. Having someone come into your home averages about $25 hour. If you are wondering how you will pay for long term care, click here: How to pay for long term care.
