Helping You Remain Independent

Region VII AAA is pleased to have Michigan Senior Advocates Council members (MSAC) representing the needs of older adults in our planning and service area. These representatives visit with state lawmakers and educate them about the aging services network, current challenges and future needs as seen from our local perspective.

The Silver Key Coalition, a statewide group of organizations and persons who serve older adults, continues to advocate for adequate money so that people in need receive services promptly and are not placed on a waiting list. More information available at: www.silverkeycoalition.com

Michigan’s State Advisory Council (SAC) work on long range issues and report to the Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging, a group of persons appointed by the Governor.

The Senior Advisory Group of Central Michigan exists as a grass roots advocacy organization facilitated by Region VII AAA staff. When issues arise with aging and long term care, persons are encouraged to contact the Senior Advisor for assistance in connecting with helpful resources and/or remedying the problem.

Annually, the group meets at Older Michiganian Day in Lansing to share a statewide legislative platform with lawmakers, and to enjoy an afternoon on the Capitol Lawn with others from around the state.
