Q. Who is eligible for services from the Region VII Area Agency on Aging?
A. Any person age 60 and over who resides in Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Isabella, Midland, Saginaw, Sanilac or Tuscola counties is potentially eligible for agency services that are funded by either the Older Americans Act or the Older Michiganians Act. Persons over the age of 65 and younger disabled adults with monthly incomes no higher than $2,022 and assets no greater than $2,000 and medically eligible for nursing home placement may qualify for the MI Choice Home and Community Based Medicaid Waiver Program.
Low-income persons, age 55 and over, may qualify for the agency’s limited part-time employment program under Title V of the Older Americans Act.
Q. How do I find information on services and resources available in the local community for older adults, persons with disabilities or family caregivers?
A. The Region VII has certified resource specialists available to address all questions on services and resources in our ten county region. To contact an Information and Assistance Specialist call 1-800-858-1637 or email email@example.com.
Q. How much will I have to pay for services?
A. Under the Older Americans Act, no fees may be charged for these services. In place of a fee, service recipients will be asked to make a donation towards the cost of the service for some services or share in the cost. Under a cost sharing arrangement, recipients are expected to share in the actual cost of service provision. A sliding scale based on the recipient’s income is utilized to determine the suggested cost sharing amount. Any funds donated by recipients will be used to further expand services.
Q. How can I find out about services in other regions?
