Commission on Services to the Aging Approves Annual Implementation Plan Fiscal Year 2013

The Commission on Services to the Aging (CSA) voted unanimously to approve the Region VII Area Agency on Aging’s Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) for FY 2013.  The AIP outlines how federal Older Americans Act and state funds are used to support community-based services for older adults in Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Isabella, Midland, Saginaw, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties from October 2012 to September 2013.

Approval by the CSA was the final step in the process before the AIP could be implemented.  The Area Agency on Aging Board of Directors previously reviewed the AIP, considered public comment, and approved it in July.

In addition to the outlining how federal and state dollars will be used, the AIP highlights recent accomplishments, summarizes services and future activities and describes special projects and partnerships.  To read the AIP please click here.

The CSA, a 15-member body appointed by Governor, advises the Governor and Legislature on coordination and administration of state programs, changes in federal and state programs, and the nature and magnitude of aging priorities.  The CSA also reviews and approves grants made by The Michigan Office of Services to the Aging and participates in development of the state plan and budget as required by the federal Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended.  Commission meetings are held monthly and are open to the public.
